- Black cases are blacked out with diamond-like carbon (DLC) depositing of its pigment which is far superior to PVD (that easily peals over time). PVD (physical vapor deposition) vaporizes metals that bind in layers to the target surface in a heated vacuum. DLC sprays a form of carbon onto the surface (instead of metals) and then the surface is quickly cooled similar to manufacturing synthetic diamonds. The DLC carbon black is fused to the metal and is scratch resistant. PVD black can be pealed off the surface of the metal underneath so we never work with PVD.
